Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Donuts Inc?

Donuts Inc. is a domain name registry which holds the world’s largest portfolio of new top-level domains for use as business identifiers (such as .ltd, .company), navigation (such as .careers, .support, or .social), in vertical markets (such as .photography, .cafe,  or .builders) or in broad-based generics (such as .life, .world or .live). Premium.Domains is owned by Donuts Inc.

What is the Premium Pricing Event?

On November 5th, 2019 Donuts reduced pricing for more than 1.1MM previously unsold premium domain names – our largest premium price reduction event ever. The Donuts Premium Pricing Event is an exciting opportunity for savvy domain investors and entrepreneurs to find and secure premium domains at newly reduced prices.

Why is Donuts lowering prices on premium domains?

The Donuts team perpetually analyzes and adjusts pricing across our entire 242 top-level domain portfolio, including standard and premium names. Prior to the Donuts/Rightside merger in 2017, each company managed its premium portfolio differently. For instance, Rightside classified significantly more domains per TLD as premium and set relatively high prices, compared to Donuts. Recent sales analyses clearly show that lower prices for select TLDs and price points result in significant premium registration sales lift across customer segments. Cumulatively these price changes better align average list prices within segments of the Donuts premium portfolio with average sales prices. This is a price correction based on market demand, which is good news for both investors and SMBs.

How much are premium domain name prices dropping?

Premium domain prices drops depend on the specific top-level domains and/or domain name. For context, approximately 250,000 premium domain names will drop in price, and more than 850,000 premium domains will move to standard pricing.

Which premium domain names are changing?

Price changes have impacted more than 1.1MM premium domain names across 45 top-level domains. Visit premium.domains/pp-event to discover the range of premium domains available and download relevant category lists.
